Becoming Herself, Becoming a River
Waterstone Gallery May 2023
Inspired by my recent travels to the American Southwest, my new paintings sit somewhere between abstraction and landscape, a push-me-pull-you of opposites: carefully composed, yet loosely fluid. Overwhelmed by the breathtaking desert landscape, I turned towards abstraction to explore the effect nature has on my creative practice. In nature, attuned to my senses, I experience a flood of emotions – joy, gratitude, longing, loss. And when I bring this back to the studio, the work flows. A river knows how to be a river.
